This project was one of international projects, which has been undertaken by Theekshana. Theekshana is expected of carrying maintenance and hosting LMS for Telecentre.Org Academy which is located at Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU). UCSC is considered be a centre of Excellence in eLearning as well as Localization of Content and Software.
Theekshana helped the Global Telecentre.org Academy for localization into Sinhala as well as it provides help as to how localization of course content is carried out for other languages. In August 2010, Theekshana held an International Workshop for training LMS to participants from four different countries as well as some from Sri Lanka making the number of Participant countries to five. The Participant countries were India, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
In addition, Theekshana maintained the workflow based management Information system for Students of the Academy.
Vice Chancellors’ meeting which was held in New Delhi at Indira Gandhi Open University where Prof. Shanika Hirimburegama participated with the Director UCSC in 2006. Several Vice Chancellors from Major Universities from South America had also participated at this event. South America (Specially in Brazil) has one of the most vibrant Telecentre movements in the world other than India and Philippines. This particular meeting at New Delhi was chaired by Vice chancellor of IGNOU and Late Prof. Samaranayake was the driving force behind the development of Telecentre.org curriculum of the world.
