WHO WE ARE

We are ...

Theekshana was established in December 2006 as a not- for- profit Company which was incorporated by an Association that was made up by staff of University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC). This company came into existence as part of the vision of the founder Director of UCSC the late Prof. V.K Samaranayake who envisioned that the natural next step in the evolution of the consulting, commercializing of R&D work of the UCSC should be to form a not-for-profit company in line with international best practice at universities around the world.

The Story

The late Prof. V. K. Samaranayake the founder of University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) conceptualized of having a not for profit company as a consultancy arm for UCSC. Under his stewardship, Computer servicing Centre (CSC) of University of Colombo which he was instrumental in forming flourished in the early days of Computing in Sri Lanka. Software Development

Theekshana has a long tradition of creating world class, pioneering and customized Software mainly for Sri Lankan Government Sector. Some of the Software which had been created by Theekshana and its counterpart, Software Development Unit of University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) ,fuel major Ministries such as Ministry of Finance, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Registry of Persons, Department of Police etc.

Cyber Security and Forensic Services

Theekshana inherits experience of some of the Cyber security and Forensic work which was carried out by University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) for the last twenty years. Some of expertise with Theekshana are Data Recovery, providing Cyber security, and carrying out R&D on Cyber security and Computer and Network Forensics. It has expertise on providing consultation on Cloud and Cloud Services.

Web Design

Software Development Unit of University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) had been a pioneer in Sri Lanka for creating some of the earliest Web sites in the country such as www.priu.gov.lk, www.news.lk, www.fomin.gov.lk etc.Theekshana had inherited this long tradition of creating web sites which are attractive, informative and easily navigable. Theekshana has carried out many consultancies on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

E-Commerce Solutions

Software Development Unit of UCSC had developed some of the earliest E-Commerce sites in Sri Lanka. UCSC being one of the pioneers in introducing Internet and its services in Sri Lanka, Theekshana draws from fountain of experience which is contained among staff of UCSC who had been recognized as Internet Pioneers in Sri Lanka.

Certification and Accreditation, and Consulting on ICT

University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) is regarded one of the major centers of excellence in South and South East Asia especially on eLearning and capacity building. Following in the footsteps of its parents, UOC and UCSC, Theekshana has plans to introduce certification and accreditation for certain areas where it has expertise such as in Software Development cycle, Cyber Security, Local Language implementations and in the latest area, implementation of blockchain etc.
